Shilpa Shetty denies involvement in IPL cricket betting scandal
Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra own IPL team Rajasthan Royals and the Bollywood star has allegedly placed bets on a match involving the Royals. Shilpa’s husband was questioned by police and admitted gambling, he has been told not to leave India according to police. The allegations were made by Umesh Goenka, an alleged bookmaker who is a witness in an investigation into a spot-fixing scandal that has hit the league.
Shilpa shot to fame outside India in 2007 when she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and was allegedly racially abused by fellow contestants including Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O’Meara.
The league is regarded as the richest cricket tournament in the world.
