Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanj come together for Phillauri
Fox Star Studios and Clean Slate Films present one of the most extraordinary and innovative romantic films to emerge from Indian cinema in recent times as the delightful Phillauri releases in cinemas on 24th March, co-produced and distributed by Fox Star Studios.
Already creating a buzz internationally, with the trailer generating over 10 million views in two days and unanimous adulation, Phillauri marks the directorial debut of Anshai Lal, having previously assisted on Box Office super-hits such as Chak De! India and Dostana, both of which garnered overwhelming critical plaudit and commercial success.
Phillauri is the second film to emerge from the production company, Clean Slate Films, which was established by one of Indian cinema’s most fearless and avant garde female artists, Anushka Sharma, who co-founded the production house with brother, Karnesh Sharma, with the single-minded intention of producing movies that the sibling duo “believe in and the audience loves, while backing exciting new talent.” As a producer, Anushka Sharma pioneers film content that pushes the boundaries of Indian cinema, with her first outing, NH10, unflinchingly depicting the issue of honour killings and emerging a sleeper hit that was championed by critics and cineastes globally.
